As I work on my Big New Project, (which is still TOP SECRET, so please don’t ask), I have an exciting announcement for Turkish readers only. Non-Turkish readers should stop reading now. Have you stopped? Good😉. So, about 12 years ago I wrote a series of stories about a boy called Dan who can see ghosts. Dan teams up with a gentleman ghost called Simon, and the two investigate crazy mysteries and ghostly crimes together. They were loads of fun to write, and I loved them, but they weren’t in print for long. Well, those brilliant people at Genç Timaş are bringing two of these old stories BACK TO LIFE👻😱, translated into Turkish, and with new drawings by me. But, and here’s the exciting announcement, I am also writing a ✨NEW STORY✨ about Dan and Simon, to be set in the beautiful city of ISTANBUL😸. Yes, you heard correctly — I’m writing a story set in Turkey! And I very much hope that Turkish readers will enjoy these three spooky/funny/crazy stories when they are published later this year, exclusively in Turkey, by @genctimas ☺️

A few more treasures have come my way since World

A few more treasures have come my way since World Book Day. Firstly, this wonderful mural by @catherinechinatree, which I found on the wall of the library at Cliftonville Primary School, Margate, where I spent World Book Day itself. Isn’t it fabulous? Then just look at this beautiful class door, decorated to celebrate #malamander and #eerieonsea. The attention to detail is incredible. Thank you, Hilltop Primary School in Crawley for sharing it with me. And then last, but certainly not least, here’s another Violet and another Herbie, both looking well up for spooky, cake-fuelled seaside adventures. Sebastian Eels doesn’t stand a chance. I never tire of seeing Eerie-on-Sea brought to life outside the page, so thank you for sharing these with me!

I have received copies of the beautiful editions of Mermedusa from the Netherlands and Finland. Very happy to see these, and to be reminded of the creativity of the translators who has so brilliantly translated ‘Eerie-on-Sea’ into something that makes sense in their languages. People keep asking me what I’m doing right now,

People keep asking me what I’m doing right now, since I’m so quiet on social media. The answer is: I am hiding under a rock, trying to write my very secret new book. However, I will be emerging from my hidey hole for a few days, to join in #worldbookday school events in early March. And somehow, in the middle of it all, I’ll be making a tiny two-day trip to amazing Turkey — Istanbul and Bursa — next weekend! Thank you, @genctimas, for inviting me back. Today I discovered that my Eerie-on-Sea books have sold more than HALF A MILLION copies worldwide🤯🤩. Actually, global sales had already passed 550,000 by last June, three months before Mermedusa was even published. This is amazing and wonderful and hard to believe. Not bad for a book I wrote in secret, because I’d told everyone I had given up writing forever. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has bought one of my books, or borrowed one from the library, or listened to the audio, or dressed up as a character, or eaten a sherbet lemon in a Herbie-ish manner, or in any way supported my crazy little Eerie-on-Series.
